Bytom is not only about historic tenement houses, industrial heritage and distinctive architecture. It is also about green spaces, family allotment gardens, home-grown fruit and vegetables, flowers, barbecues and peaceful moments away from the pace of city life.
That is why one element of our Association’s activities is to promote this less obvious, greener side of the city.
RODOS, Bytom style – raspberries, barbecue and peace and quiet
For many residents, an allotment is much more than just a piece of land.
It is a small world of their own, created over many years. A place where tomatoes, raspberries, currants and flowers grow. A place to have a barbecue, sit beneath a tree, spend time with family or simply enjoy the silence.
It is also a way of life.
In a world that is constantly speeding up, an allotment garden offers something increasingly valuable – the opportunity to slow down.
We promote more than places. We promote a way of life
Our Association’s promotional policy is not limited to presenting monuments, events or the most representative parts of the city.
We want to show Bytom as it is actually experienced by the people who live here.
That is why our materials also feature allotment gardens, local nature, family gatherings and ordinary moments that create the atmosphere of the city.
Promoting a city is not only about answering the question: “What is worth seeing here?”
It is also about answering a much more interesting question:
“What is it like to live here?”
We want to show the real Bytom – its restored architecture and industrial heritage, but also its parks, ponds, gardens, nature and everyday life.
Sometimes the best promotion of a place is not a monumental landmark.
Sometimes it is simply raspberries picked straight from the bush, the smell of a barbecue, sunshine, greenery and a few hours of complete peace.
Because a city is not created by buildings alone.
A city is also created by the way people live in it.
